The Oklahoma Christian University softball team improved to 2-1 with a 17-13 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State University here Feb. 14.
The Lady Eagles pounded out 19 hits in the game while the Lady Bulldogs connected on 14.
The hitting started in the first inning with Southwestern scoring five runs, followed by three from Oklahoma Christian in the home half of the inning. OC junior Angie Plowman pulled a pitch over the left-field fence for a three-run home run that kickstarted the Lady Eagles' run barrage.
With the score tied at 11 in the bottom of the fifth, OC sophomore Sandra Darmstadt singled in Rachel Seeber to give the Lady Eagles a 12-11 lead and load the bases. Freshman Tracy Washam followed with a bases-clearing triple, extending the advantage to 15-11.
Seeber led all OC hitters, going 5-for-5 with four doubles and four runs scored. Washam finished the day 2-for-4 with four runs batted in. Sophomore Linzi Farris came on in relief to pick up her first win of the season. SWOSU's Ashton Garret received the loss.
The Lady Eagles will next be in action at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor on Feb. 17 and at the University of Texas on Feb. 18.
