LANGSTON, Okla. (Nov 11, 2008) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team hit the road for the first time this season on Tuesday, traveling up Interstate 35 to Langston University. The Eagles struggled from the field in the first half, but picked up the scoring in second half to get out of town with a 73-63 win.
Both teams started slow offensively. At the 15-minute mark the score was 8-5, Langston.
Langston held the lead for much of the first half until Chad Endres hit a three-point shot to pull OC even at 13-13.
From that point on, the Eagles never lost their lead, and going into halftime the score was 32-29.
The Eagles struggled to score in the first half, shooting 35 percent from the floor and only 20 percent from three-point range.
Jason Taylor scored off a pass from Kyle Tefft to start the second half, and the Eagles picked up the pace by going on an 11-2 run fueled by three three pointers from David Jackson.
The hot shooting continued for the Eagles as they hit 5-of-11 from three-point distance in the second half.
The Eagles also shot 12-of-16 from the free-throw line down the stretch to secure the 10-point victory.
Taylor, who spent much of time on the bench in foul trouble, led the Eagles in scoring along with Endres with 15 points. Jeff Crocker added 14 points, Tefft put up 12 points and Jackson had 10 points.
Crocker also led the team in assists with six, and Tefft led the team in rebounds, pulling down nine.
The Eagles now get a nine-day layoff before another road game at NCAA Division II Southeastern Oklahoma State on Nov. 20. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in Durant.
