Wayland Baptist Beats Eagles

In its most disappointing offensive performance of the season, Oklahoma Christian University fell to 23rd ranked Wayland Baptist University 69-46 in the Eagles Nest Saturday afternoon.

Shooting 28 percent from the field, the Eagles fell behind in the early minutes of play and were unable to find the spark to catch up.

Wayland Baptist scored at a 50 percent clip and used long-range accuracy to pull away in the second half. The loss leaves the Eagles at 13-4 overall and 3-4 in conference play. WBU improved to 14-4 overall and 4-3 in league competition.

Oklahoma Christian's high scoring Jarred Merrill was limited to 10 points as the Pioneers worked overtime to defend the junior forward. Merrill recorded his 14th double-double of the season as he pulled down 12 rebounds.

OC sophomore Brady Page finished with nine points and freshman Keith Harris scored eight. The Pioneers were led with 18 points by Bridges and 17 points by Garnett.

Oklahoma Christian will travel to Alva to meet Northwestern Oklahoma State University Jan. 29.
