Eagles tally win over the Cavaliers

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Feb. 15, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team revived in the second half against Saint Gregory's University (Okla.) to pull away with an 80-58 victory on Monday night in the Nest.

The Eagles never fell behind the Cavaliers on Monday night, but struggled during the first half to distance themselves from them.

During the first five minutes of the game, the Eagles went 7-0 against the SGU men before the Cavaliers got on the board with a pair of free throws from Jade Carter.

The SGU squad shot only 14.8 percent during the first period, however, the OC men only led by seven points at the half at 26-19.

After struggling through an inefficient first half, the Eagles returned from the locker room fresh on their toes. The Eagles kept their distance from the Cavaliers despite a much more accurate SGU men's team during the period.

Not only were the Cavaliers more accurate from the field during the second half, the Eagles improved to 73 percent after shooting only 33 percent during the first half.

As play continued, the Eagles began to gap themselves even farther from the Cavaliers. Late in the game the Eagles led by as many as 25 points before finishing with an empty bench and a 22-point margin of victory over the SGU men at 80-58.

Jason Taylor proved steady and accurate as he scored 28 points for the Eagles in addition to grabbing 11 boards and making six assists.

Jeff Crocker found his mark during the second half making all 17 of his points during the period. Crocker handed out 11 assists for the evening and made four steals as well.

Chad Endres came through under the basket as he scored another 14 points to add to the Eagles' total. Endres also made six rebounds and four assists.

The win leaves the Eagles with a 19-7 record and are 11-7 for conference play.

The Eagles will rematch Saint Gregory's in Shawnee, Okla. on Thursday night at 8 p.m. following the women's game at 6 p.m.
