OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Feb. 13, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball dropped a 65-46 decision to Oklahoma City University on Saturday evening after a bumpy second half.
After a defense heavy first five minutes, the Eagles gained the lead 4-2 with 14:49 to play in the first half. The OC men held on to their lead, leading by as much as eight points, through the first half until OCU's Chris Brown knocked down a free throw with 33 seconds left to tie the game 24-24 heading into halftime.
The second half proved more troublesome for the Eagles as they struggled to score. The Stars took out to an 11-point lead in the first five minutes of the period.
As the period went on, the Stars continued to pull away from the Eagles leading by as much as 21 points during the period and shot with 56 percent accuracy for the half, a step up from 30 percent in the first half. Unable to recover, the Eagles dropped the match 65-46.
Taylor remained the backbone of the Eagle offense as he put up 20 points for the evening and grabbed seven rebounds.
Swingman Andre Vaughn added another 13 points to the night's total and grabbed five rebounds in the process.
The loss leaves the Eagles with an 18-7 overall record and at 10-7 for the conference.
The Eagles will return home to host Saint Gregory's University on Monday alongside the women's team with the women playing first at 6 p.m. and the men following at 8.
