OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (March 6, 2010) – The Lady Eagles' softball team was unable to hold up to the No. 5 Lubbock Christian University on Saturday as they dropped both doubleheader matches to the Lady Chaparrals.
Game 1
The Lady Eagles found themselves in a hole after the first inning against Lubbock Christian on Saturday. The second batter for the Lady Chaps hit one over the fence to bring in two runs. After two more homeruns from the next two batters and three more runs the Lady Eagles finished out the top of the first down 7-0.
The Lady Chaps score another four runs, one in the second and three in the third, to take an 11-0 lead as they held the Lady Eagles from scoring.
OC held the Lady Chaps from scoring in the fourth and fifth innings but were unable to get on the board themselves, which resulted in an 11-0 fifth inning run rule and loss for the Lady Eagles.
Sophia McKean led from the mound only allowing four runs and pitched three strikeouts.
Game 2
In the second game, the Lady Eagles held tight with the Lady Chaps until LCU pulled away in the final innings.
LCU tallied three runs in the first inning but the Lady Eagles responded with two of their own before heading into the second. Ashley Calles brought home the first run for the Lady Eagles after Taylor Renshaw singled with the bases loaded. The second came from Amy Urbanovsky when Michelle Miller duplicated Renshaw.
In the second inning, LCU registered another run to leave the score at 4-2 heading into the third inning.
OC scored two runs in the third when Urbanovsky hit one over the fence with Calles on first. Urbanovky's homer tied up the game 4-4.
After two scoreless innings, LCU tallied a run in the sixth and four more in the seventh to take the game handedly with a 9-4 victory.
DaVee Croy led the Lady Eagles from the plate going three for three. Additionally, Urbanovsky went two for three and tallied two runs and two RBIs.
Leigh Leonard pitched six innings for the Lady Eagles and tallied two strikeouts.
The two losses leave the Lady Eagles with a now 3-8 overall record and a 1-4 conference record.
OC will play Oklahoma City University on the road next Tuesday, March 9, at 2 p.m.
