SHAWNEE, Okla. (Jan. 15, 2011) – The Oklahoma Christian men's team fell to Saint Gregory's University (Okla.) in Saturday night's road match as the Eagles gave up an 83-75 loss against the Cavaliers.
A difficult first have proved detrimental for the Eagles as OC trailed by eight points at 40-32 after the first half.
A readied Saint Gregory's squad gave the Eagles a run for their money as the acquired an eight-point lead before heading to the locker room. The Cavaliers were on target during the period as they hit 62 percent of their shots from the field and drained six out of 10 shots from three-point range.
The second half was very much a give and take period as the two teams battled it out and scored the same amount of points at 43 for the half. It was a first half deficit of eight points, however, that amounted to the Eagles' loss.
The Eagles desperately vied for the win as they took 33 shots during the second period. Despite such, OC only knocked in 13 of them to amount for less than 40 percent shooting from the field.
OC also struggled from behind the arc as they tallied 31 percent shooting with making 4-of-13 for the period.
With the Cavaliers taking the victory at 83-75, the Eagles' record falls to 11-6 overall and 5-5 for conference play.
Will Reinke and Chad Endres left the game as the Eagles' leading scorers as each tallied 14 points for the game. Reinke grabbed seven rebounds in the process and made two block and two steals. Endres totaled an additional eight rebounds of his own as well.
Devan White helped out as well with 10 points while Eric Randall contributed another nine points of his own. Jeff Crocker and Andre Vaughn each added seven points apiece while Crocker recorded five assists.
The Eagles will join the women's team as they head to Texas to take on Wayland Baptist University and Lubbock Christian University for their next matchups. Wayland Baptist comes first on Thursday with the women tipping off at 6 p.m. and the men scheduled to follow at 8 p.m.
