OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Nov. 18, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team blew past Langston University (Okla.) on Thursday night with an 86-67 road victory over the Lions.
The Eagles never trailed against the Lions after Will Reinke started OC off with a 2-0 lead. Despites two quick subsequent ties, the Eagles had no problem putting a gap on the Lions during the first period. Just five minutes into the game, the OC men created a seven-point lead and increased it to 18 before the half.
The Lions were able to hold the Eagles under a 10-point margin until 6:43 was left on the clock when Eric Randall drained two free throws. With 8:09 remaining till the half, the Eagles started a 13-1 run to assemble a 17-point lead of the Lions.
The Langston men came back within 12 points of the Eagles before OC put up the largest lead of the game at 18 points and held into heading into halftime.
In the second period, the Eagles held a commanding lead never allowing the Lions within 11. The Eagles created their largest lead of the game with just 1:49 left to play in the game when they led the Lions by 25 points after Reinke, Chad Endres, and Devan white put up six unanswered points.
Before time expired, the Lions responded with six unanswered points of their own to trail by 19 points at the buzzer and to leave the Eagles with an 86-67 victory.
Reinke dominated the paint as he put up 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Eagles during the game's entirety. Jeff Crocker helped get points of the board for the Eagles as he left the hardwood with 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists for the game.
Randall down another 14 points for OC and made four rebounds in the process. Endres also had an impact performance with 11 points during the game and making five rebounds and five assists.
White and Ross Morrisett helped contribute as well with eight points apiece while White grabbed six rebounds and made three steals.
The Eagles, now 4-1 at the start of the season, will start conference play on Monday when they host a double header with the women's team against Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The women are scheduled to tip off first at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
