ALVA, Okla. (Dec. 6, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men fell to a prepared Northwestern Oklahoma State University squad on Monday night as they lost 73-52 to the Rangers on the road.
The Eagles were never able to gain the lead against the Rangers despite tying things up four times during the first period. After falling to a five-point deficit right at the start, the Eagles responded with two baskets from Andre Vaughn and Chad Endres to tie things up at 5-5 with 16:36 to play.
After another tie, the Eagles again fell to a five-point deficit before tying the Rangers' score two more times at 8:55 and 6:58 on the game clock. Following the final tie, the Rangers put up at 12-2 run against the Eagles to take a 10-point lead with just 3:11 still to play.
Through several exchanges of baskets, the Eagles trailed by eight points at the half after Eric Randall connected on a field with 30 seconds on the clock.
During the second half, the Rangers continued to expand their lead right from the start as they pushed to a 15-point advantage with 14:35 still left on the clock.
In an effort to respond, the Eagles cut the margin to eight points before a 10-0 run ensued by the by the Rangers to create an 18-point lead with 10:33 left in regulation.
The Eagles were able to cut the margin to 11 points with only 1:22 remaining to play after a three-point basket from Endres.
Despite the recovered ground, the OC men gave up a 10-0 run during the remainder of the game to fall to a 21-point loss at 73-52.
Jeff Crocker paced the Eagles for the night with 13 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Endres contributed as well with 12 points of his own, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Post player, Will Reinke, scored another eight points for the Eagles in addition to making three rebounds and three steals.
The second loss against the Rangers leaves the Eagles to 6-3 for the season with a 2-2 record for conference play.
The Eagles will return home for their final game prior to the holiday break as they host Southwestern Christian University at 7:30 p.m. in the Nest.
