Heading into the fourth inning the Eagles trailed by a run at 5-4 before the Mavericks sent home five more runners to take to a 10-4 lead.

After a scoreless fifth, the Eagles tallied another three scores attempting to stay in the game. Tyler Gipson scored the first run of the inning after Dillon Andrews hit a single and second base made an error on a throw allowing a run for home. Jeff Davis followed to tally a second score on the play. Dillon Andrews made the final score of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Parcus.

The Eagles came back with two more runs in the seventh inning to make the score 10-9 to again trail by only one run. Dustin Andrews made the first score heading home from second on a Chance Nichols' double. Nichols proceeded home three batters later when Davis hit a single.

UTA tallied one run in the bottom of the seventh before sending a devastating blow to the Eagles in the bottom of the eighth when six runners reached home.

Then trailing 17-9, the Eagles failed to score in the ninth leaving the victory in the hands of the Mavericks.
