NORMAN, Okla. -
Nyla Bentley closed our her freshman indoor track and field regular season with her second school record of her inaugural college campaign, breaking her own record in the 60 meter as Oklahoma Christian competed at the Crimson and Cream Qualifier in the final meet before postseason.
Women
Bentley was one of three Eagles to finish top-3 in their respective event as Bentley broke her own record by three hundredths of a second, crossing at 7.51 seconds. The Frisco, Texas, native beat her prelim time by 13 hundredths of a second as her school record is currently tied for the 21st fastest in NCAA Division II.
Along with Bentley,
Laila Ahmed (1.67m)Â tied for first in the high jump while
Laniyah Curry (6.09m) finished as the top DII jumper while finishing behind a pair of DI athletes in the long jump. Heading into conference, the duo is tied for 30th and seventh nationally in their respective events, respectively.
True freshman
Kenzy McArtor placed fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.25 to finish off her collegiate debut season.
Men
On the track,
Brodey Skipworth finished fifth in the one mile race after breaking the finish at 4:33.15. In the 800m,
Dauntae Herrera (1:59.08) and
Noah Fitzgerald (2:01.73) finished back-to-back for sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Cole Powell closed the day as the highest-finished male for the maroon-and-gray, finishing as runner-up in the 3000m race at 9:00.01, besting the third-place runner by over five and a half seconds.
