No. 18 Softball Hosts No. 1 UT Tyler in LSC Showdown

EDMOND, Okla. - Riding a six-game home win streak, No. 18 Oklahoma Christian looks to build on the home-turf success when the nation's No. 1 team and defending NCAA Division II National Champion UT Tyler comes to Lawson Softball Complex at Tom Heath Field for a doubleheader Sunday, Mar. 23 beginning at 1 p.m.

EAGLE OUTLOOK (21-11, 14-8 LSC)
No. 18 Oklahoma Christian allowed one run in Friday's doubleheader against Texas Woman's thanks to a one-hit shutout from Jill Dickson for the game-one 2-0 victory. During this six-game home win streak, OC has allowed just one run as the Eagles are 12-2 against conference foes at Tom Heath Field this season.

Shortstop Kallie Rupp has herself second on the team with a .386 batting average after claiming a hit in five of her last six games, including three multi-hit outings during that stretch. Rupp is tied with Maci George and Marti Yaerger for the team-lead with four multi-RBI games.

Oklahoma Christian is the only team in the Lone Star Conference with two pitchers boasting 100 or more strikeouts on the season with Grace Anderson (114) and Jill Dickson (104). Heading into Friday's twin bill against Texas Woman's, Anderson was eighth in Division II with 105 strikeouts before her nine-strikeout performance against TWU.

The Eagles claimed the first two games of the all-time series back in 2021, but since have dropped 12 straight against UT Tyler. In last year's Super Regionals, OC fell to the Patriots, 6-3 and 3-0. In the latter contest, the maroon-and-gray out-hit Tyler, 6-3, but left nine runners on base.

SCOUTING No. 1 UT Tyler (29-2, 20-2 LSC)
No. 1 UT Tyler brings a 12-game win streak to Lawson Softball Complex Sunday afternoon, during which it has allowed more three or more runs just three times while posting seven shutouts. The Patriots have allowed a league-fewest 46 runs in 31 games and only 39 earned runs.

Leading the potent Patriot pitching staff is senior closer Kaylee Davis who, in 15 relief appearances and one start, has allowed only two runs in 38.2 innings of work, carrying a DII-best 0.36 ERA. Tyler's pair of senior starters Cera Blanchard and Primrose Aholelei own 1.38 and 1.82 ERAs, respectively.
