No. 18 Softball Hosts Texas Woman's in Friday Twin Bill

EDMOND, Okla. - Following a two-game conference-action hiatus, No. 18 Oklahoma Christian returns to league play with Texas Woman's coming to the Lawson Softball Complex for a doubleheader Friday, Mar. 21 beginning at 3 p.m.

EAGLE OUTLOOK (19-11, 12-8 LSC)
Oklahoma Christian's break from Lone Star Conference opposition brought No. 6 Rogers State over from Claremore, Okla., to Edmond for a doubleheader Sooner State showdown Tuesday, Mar. 18. After falling in game one, 7-2, OC brought the game-winning run to third base in the seventh inning before RSU forced extra innings and plated two in the top of the eighth to escape, 5-3.

True freshman Marti Yaerger's 17-game hitting streak and 21-game on-base streak was snapped in game one against the Hillcats. Fellow true freshman Chenna Davidson, who has reached base in her last four games played, was the lone Eagle to claim a hit in both games of the in-state twin bill, including one of OC's three doubles in game two.

The Eagles own the conference's third-best team batting average (.322) and the fourth-best team ERA (2.89). The Eagles bats are still led by a pair of true freshman in Yaerger (.404) and Victoria Brazil (.368) with the duo each boasting an on-base plus slugging percentage over 1.000. In the circle, Grace Anderson paces the LSC with 105 strikeouts in 96.1 innings thrown.

Oklahoma Christian brings a five-game winning streak over Texas Woman's into Friday's doubleheader, with four of those five victories being decided by two runs or fewer. The Eagles have won seven straight home games over TWU and have not lost to the Pioneers in the Sooner State since 2019.

SCOUTING TEXAS WOMAN'S (14-12, 10-10 LSC)
Texas Woman's opened the season 5-0 as it is sporting its best 26-game start since 2018. The Pioneers are on a current three-game skid as they are, like Oklahoma Christian, entering the weekend of a pair of midweek non-conference losses, dropping a pair to Oklahoma Baptist, 7-5 and 13-7.

Texas Woman's is middle of the conference with a team-ERA of 4.34 thanks to ace Allison Gonzalez (6-6) with a 2.68 ERA, having allowed just 29 earned runs in 75.2 innings of work. Fellow Pioneer starter Randi Crawford (6-3) leads the staff with 58 strikeouts in 54.1 innings thrown.
