RICHARDSON, Texas - Catcher Marti Yaerger of No. 18 Oklahoma Christian softball was named the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, Feb. 25.

The honors come after a 2-2 weekend featuring a pair of victories over Midwestern St., 2-1 and 8-0, before dropping a doubleheader to then-No. 8 West Texas A&M, 5-4 and 9-0.

Yaerger, the freshman was one of two Eagles to claim a hit in all four games of the weekend slate, boasting a .636 batting average (7-of-11) and a .692 on-base percentage. In game one against West Texas A&M, trailing 5-3, the Dewar High School product delivered a triple to bring the game-tying run to third base.

Yaerger and No. 18 Oklahoma Christian (10-6, 3-5 LSC) will now head to Silver City, N.M., and Portales, N.M., to face Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico in a pair of doubleheaders Friday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 2.
