Bethany, Okla.- Oklahoma Christian's cross country team continued its opening week at the SNU Invitational at Eldon Lyon Park Saturday morning Sept. 7. The Eagle men placed second with a team score of 70 behind eventual winners Oklahoma City University.
The Eagles put together a strong team performance with only 11 positions separating their top five finishes. Freshman
Brennan Kirk led OC as he moved his way through the field late to register a top 10 finish in his Eagles debut with a time of 16:36. Cade Berkey, who led the Eagles for much of the race, finished just behind in 11th place with a time of 16:37.Â
Both Kirk and Berkey worked hard throughout the middle stages of the race with
Jack Lindley and
Carter Hoelzle and for much of the day these four were separated by only a few meters. Lindley eventually finished in 13th place with a time of 16:48 with Hoelzle just four seconds behind in 15th place in 16:52. Rounding out the top five for the Eagles was
Jonah Hays who finished in 21st place with a time of 17:17.Â
The SNU Invitational rounded out opening week for the Eagles with a large crew of freshman experiencing college racing for the first time and delivering hugely impressive performances showing no signs of their inexperience.Â
