Eagles to Host Dustdevils in LSC Home Opener

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (8-6, 4-2) will host Texas A&M International (5-11, 2-4) at Lawson Softball Complex for the Eagles Lone Star Conference home opening series this Saturday and Sunday.

What To Know About The Eagles 

  • Head Coach Shalee Rodriguez is entering her 3rd season at the helm for the Eagles. Rodriguez holds an overall record of 77-32.

  • Last season, the Eagles finished with an overall record of 38-17 and a 29-13 conference record.

  • The Eagles fell short in the Lone Star Conference Championship, losing to UT Tyler 4-3. 

  • In the NCAA South Central Regional championship, OC battled with UT Tyler before the Patriots won to end the season.

  • The Eagles have three batters hitting over .300, with Kadence Brewster leading the way for the Eagles. Brewster is hitting .361, and in 36 at-bats, she has recorded 13 hits with 3 RBIs, 2 home runs, and scoring herself 7 times.

  • The Dustdevils, Kennedy Griego was picked as the teams LSC player to watch. In the 16 games played so far, Griego is averaging a .388 hitting percentage, with 19 hits and in the field has been a reliable source of play for the Dustdevils. 

  • The pitcher that has emerged as the team's ace this year is Erika Cortez, with a record of 2-3 so far this year, Cortez is holding a 2.29 ERA, with 13 strikeouts. 

Last Years Matchup 

  • Last year the Eagles won the series, taking games 1 and 3. 

  • With the Eagles and the Dustdevils splitting the doubleheader, the series came down to the third game, in which Jill Dickson pitched a complete game no hitter, walking just one Dustdevils and striking out 7. 

  • This great pitching performance from Dickson was backed up by a 10 hit, 7 run performance by the Eagles on offense.
