No. 22 Eagles Open up Lone Star Conference Play in Lubbock

Oklahoma City, Okla. - No.22 Oklahoma Christian (4-4) will open up Lone Star Conference play by traveling to (RV) Lubbock Christian University (1-3) for a three-game series.

What To Know About The Eagles 

  • Head Coach Shalee Rodriguez is entering her 3rd season at the helm for the Eagles. Rodriguez holds an overall record of 77-32.

  • Last season, the Eagles finished with an overall record of 38-17 and a 29-13 conference record.

  • The Eagles fell short in the Lone Star Conference Championship, losing to UT Tyler 4-3. 

  • In the NCAA South Central Regional championship, OC battled with UT Tyler before the Patriots won to end the season.

  • The Eagles Return 14 from last year's roster, including seven seniors. They were highlighted a season ago by sophomore pitcher Jill Dickson and senior shortstop Kristen Whitehouse, and look for big years from Grace Anderson, Kylie Janzen, 2022 All-American Aaliyah Brown, two-sport athlete Brooklin Bain, and Whitney Walde

  • The Eagles added three freshmen Karissa Fiegener, Haylee Monden, Kallie Rupp, and sophomore transfer Presley Main.

  • The Eagles sit at 4-4 on the season, with the four wins being over ranked opponents.

  • Kadence Brewster enters LSC play with a great hitting performance and winning the honor the of LSC Hitter of the Week. 

What to know about the Chaps 

  • Head coach Daren Hays is in his 13th season at Lubbock Christian. With an overall record of 487-160. 

  • The Chaps were picked to finish 4th in the LSC, right behind the Eagles. 

  • The Chaps are led by Skyler Herrera, a 5th years infielder who will leave LCU as a leader in numerous records. Herrera is a 3x All-Conference, and last year claimed her first All-Region (NFCA) honor. 

  • Their ace pitcher, Maxine Valdez, enters her fifth season with a laundry list of accomplishments and honors. 

  • The Chaps have had several games canceled this season for weather and looking to find momentum entering into conference play. 

Last years matchup 

  • In the 2023 season, the Eagles completed the 3-game sweep over the Chaps. 

  • Jill Dickson pitched 2 complete games, including a game 3 shutout.
