#16 Eagles Open Up Season in California at Concordia Kickoff Classic

Oklahoma City, Okla- Oklahoma Christian will open up their season on the West Coast, competing in the Concordia Kickoff Classic in Irvine, California. 

What To Know About The Eagles 

  • Head Coach Shalee Rodriguez is entering her 3rd season at the helm for the Eagles. Rodriguez holds an overall record of 77-32.

  • Last season, the Eagles finished with an overall record of 38-17 and a 29-13 conference record.

  • The Eagles fell short in the Lone Star Conference Championship, losing to UT Tyler 4-3. 

  • In the NCAA South Central Regional championship, OC battled with UT Tyler before the Patriots won to end the season.

  • The Eagles Return 14 from last year's roster, including seven seniors. They were highlighted a season ago by sophomore pitcher Jill Dickson and senior shortstop Kristen Whitehouse, and look for big years from Grace Anderson, Kylie Janzen, 2022 All-American Aaliyah Brown, two-sport athlete Brooklin Bain, and Whitney Walde

  • The Eagles added three freshmen including Karissa Fiegener, Haylee Monden, and Kallie Rupp, and sophomore transfer Presley Main.

What To Know About The Golden Eagles 

  • Crystal Rosenthal has served as the head coach for the softball program since 2009 and since March 2020, has served also as the University's Athletic Director. She is the winningest coach in CUI history and currently holds the 9th longest game-winning streak in NCAA D2 history when, in 2022, she coached the team to 36 straight wins. 

  • Rosenthal and The Golden Eagles come into the season ranked #14 in the nation. 

  • The Golden Eagles compete in the Pacific West Conference.

  • The Golden Eagles are strong contenders to repeat a conference championship run, as they were picked unanimously to do so in the Preseason PacWest Poll

  • Concordia returns nineteen players from last year's team. Including last year's Conference Pitcher of The Year, Katlin Entrup. Entrup earned First Team All-Region and Second Team All-American. Entrup was also named this year's Preseason Pitch of The Year.

  • Rylie Rohr received the honor of Co-Player of the Year. 

  • Along with Entrup and Rohr, four other Golden Eagles were named to the Preseason All-PacWest team.

OC vs. #25 Northwest Nazarene University 

Feb. 3rd, 8:30 p.m. 

What To Know About The Nighthawks 

  • Rich Wagner is in his twelfth season as the head coach for the Nighthawks. Wagner is a four-time GNAC Coach of the Year. 

  • Northwest Nazarene is coming into the season ranked #25 in the first NFCA coaches poll. 

  • The Nighthawks finished last season with a 39-17 overall record and a 21-3 record in Conference play. 

  • The Nighthawks compete in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

  • Northwest Nazarene is the three-time reigning conference champions and was once again picked unanimously to finish first this year in the GNAC Preseason Poll.  

  • Northwest Nazarene is returning two-time GNAC Pitcher of the Year. 

Game Four 

OC vs. RV Sonoma State University 

Feb. 4th, 10:30 a.m. 

What To Know About The Seawolves 

  • Jennifer Bridges is entering her 14th season as the head coach at Sonoma State. Bridges is the reigning CCAA Coach of the Year.

  • Sonoma State competes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

  • The Seawolves finished last season with an overall record of 35-15 and a conference record of 23-8.

  • The Seawolves are picked to retain their title as Conference Champions, being picked to finish first in the CCAA Preseason Poll.  

  • The Seawolves are returning five all-conference selections from 2023. Including CCAA Player of the Year, Anna Zoia-Buescher, and CCAA Freshman of the Year, Charlie Johnson.
