Curry Sets School Record as Track and Field Opens Season in Kansas

PITTSBURG, Kan. - Oklahoma Christian traveled to Pittsburgh State to kick off their indoor track season at the Crimson and Gold Invitational Saturday, Dec. 7th.

Women's Results
The stand out performances of the meet came from the pair of Brooke Latham and Kinley Kite who put forth Top-8 performances in the women's mile. Latham finished in 4th place with a personal best time of 5:05.0 with Lone Star Conference Cross Country Freshman of the Year Kite finishing just behind in eighth with a time of 5:07.40.

Making the most of her first collegiate event, true freshman Laniyah Curry from Edmond, Okla. (Edmond Santa Fe HS) finished in eighth place in the Long Jump with a school-record jump of 5.68m or 18'7.75".

Katie Bosley posted a pair of good results finishing 25th in the 400m in a time 58.93 and 33rd in the 200 with a time of 26.44.

Men's Results
In the men's. Tegen Arega finished 12th in the 3km in a time of 8:49.62.

Phillip Lawerence put forth a pair of strong performances finishing 12th in the weight throw with a throw of 15.5m (50'10.75"). He also finished 18th in the shot put with a throw of 14.01 (45'11.75").

Noah Fitzgerald finished in 21st place in the 800m with a time of 1:58.59 with Dauntae Herrera finishing in 32nd in a time of 2:00.57.

The Eagles will now head into the Christmas Break before opening up the new year at Wichita State University for the Friends University first chance qualifier on January 11th.
