2024 All-South Central Region Men's Soccer Teams
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
Joep Claassen of Oklahoma Christian men's soccer was recognized as a Second Team All-South Central Region honoree Tuesday, Nov. 26, the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced.
This is the second year OC has produced an All-Region performer, with Claassen joining 2023's
Ellis Jones. Both Claassen's and Jones' All-Region nods came after their respective First Team All-Conference selections.
The Deurne, Netherlands, midfielder has earned All-Conference honors in three of his four years with the Eagle program, nabbing Second Team honors in 2022 and 2023 before culminating in a First Team nod this season.
Claassen was tied for third on the team with two goals, despite recording just six shots on goal, and two assists this season, while starting all 17 matches for first-year head coach Neil Hilton's squad.
"Although I only coached Joep for one semester, it is very clear how passionate he is to see OC succeed," Hilton said. "He dealt with some major injuries in his career and found the determination to come back and finish his senior year at such a high level is huge credit to his mindset and determination."
For his career, Claassen has appeared in 64 matches and started 62 of those contests, resulting in 88 hours and 48 minutes of action in an Eagle uniform.
