RESULTS
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - In its first head-to-head action of the 2024 fall season, Oklahoma Christian women's swim defeated Ouachita Baptist on the road, 117-108, while the men were tripped up by the TigerSharks, 156-81.
With the women trailing 101-88 late in the meet, OC outscored OUA 29-7 in the final two events to claim its third consecutive victory over the TigerSharks.
Women
Tammy Greenwood,
Andrea Paradis,
Vanessa Weatherford and
Laura Byars opened the night with a win in the 400-yard medley relay, winning by nearly six whole seconds with a time of 3:58.57. Two events later, Greenwood logged an individual victory in the 200 freestyle (1:54.44).
Callie Edmonds won the 50 free before Ouachita took advantage of the Eagles having no diving as OUA was able to pick up 13 free points to lead in the meet. The next winner for OC came in the 100 free as Weatherford touched the wall first at 53:57.
Greenwood (2:04.26) got her second individual win of the night as her, Kathryn McDowell (2:14.98) and
Alex Lane (2:17.74) combined for 14 points in the 200 backstroke compared to just five for Ouachita to help fuel the comeback.
After the TigerSharks scored 22 of the next 28 points thanks to nine free points on diving, Oklahoma Christian gained a massive 16-3 advantage in the 200 breaststroke as
Hailey Uhrig (2:25.07),
Grace Cooper (2:28.86) and Paradis (2:31.55) swept the top three spots.
With the meet tied, 104-104, the Eagles closed the night and clinched the victory with Edmonds, Byars, Nayeli Matos and Weatherford taking the spot in the 200 free relay for 11 points with a time of 1:38.27.
Jaiden Branstrom,
Rylee Schmidt,
Addison Newman and
Caroline Glover added another two points for their third place finish to seal the nine-point victory.
Men
The 400 medley relay quartet of
Eli Rollen,
Javan Titus,
Gui Martins and
Victor Rosado kicked off the men's portion of the night with a first-place 3:27.87.
Nathan Bell followed that with an individual first-place nod in the 1000 free (9:42.56) as OC held the early 21-15 lead.
After Ouachita took the next several races plus its free 16 diving points, the next Eagle win came from Martins in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.88, garnering nine points, while
Judah Miller (2:01.84) added three points with his third-place finish.
Rollen claimed his first individual win of the night in the 200 backstroke (1:54.05) before Rosado touched first in the 500 free (4:37.75), completing the winners for the Eagle men on the evening.
