LSC All-Academic list again includes OC’s Duesing

RICHARDSON, Texas (May 13, 2022) – As she did during the indoor track and field season, Oklahoma Christian middle-distance runner Payton Duesing represented the Eagles on the Lone Star Conference's All-Academic team for outdoor track and field, announced Friday.

Duesing, a junior Management major from Lantana, Texas, is the first OC student-athlete ever to make the LSC All-Academic outdoor track team since the Eagles joined the conference with the 2019-20 academic year.

To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.3 grade-point average and be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically. The team is selected by athletic communications professionals from the league's member schools, who consider both athletic and academic achievement while voting.

Duesing carries a 3.904 GPA. She earned All-LSC third-team honors in indoor track in 2021, when she finished fourth in the 800 meters at the LSC meet. She also runs on OC's cross country team and finished 39th in the LSC meet in that sport in 2020 and 58th last fall with a career-best time of 25:10.73 over 6,000 meters.

During the 2022 outdoor season, she finished 18th in the LSC Championships held last week in Kingsville, Texas.

Duesing has made the LSC or Heartland Conference academic Honor Roll seven times in as many semesters at OC and is a two-time winner of the Division II Athletic Directors Association's Academic Achievement Award. She serves as a women's cross country representative on the OC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
