Hamilton named as LSC softball hitter of the week

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 18, 2022) – Tristyn Hamilton's run production in Oklahoma Christian's doubleheader sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma State led to her being named Monday as the Lone Star Conference softball hitter of the week.

Hamilton is the first player from No. 16-ranked OC, which is tied atop the LSC standings, to be honored this season with a weekly award from the league. It's also her first weekly conference honor.

The sophomore outfielder from Durant starred for the Eagles in a 9-1, 13-0 sweep of Northwestern last Tuesday. Hamilton hit .667 (4 for 6) with a triple, a double, seven RBIs and two runs scored while posting a 1.167 slugging percentage during the two games.

In the second game, batting in the ninth spot in OC's order, she had a career-high six RBIs – matching the fourth-highest single-game total in program history. She hit a bases-loaded triple in the second inning that started the Eagles' scoring and added a RBI single in the third inning and a two-run double in the fourth inning. Before Tuesday, Hamilton had recorded 16 RBIs all season.

OC (34-8) has won a school-record 20 straight games – the second-longest active streak in NCAA Division II – heading into Tuesday's home doubleheader with Great American Conference power Arkansas Tech. The Eagles will return to conference play on Friday with a key doubleheader at No. 1-ranked Texas-Tyler.
