SHAWNEE, Okla. (March 26, 2022) –
Taelor Brown posted top-five finishes in two throwing events on Saturday to lead Oklahoma Christian in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational at Hurt Memorial Track.
Brown, a sophomore from Pawnee, recorded a career-best throw of 122 feet, 8 inches (37.39 meters) in the discus to take fifth among 25 women, and also placed fifth in a field of 26 women in the shot put with a top mark of 37 feet, 7¾ inches (11.47 meters).
Those efforts came after she posted a career-best hammer throw of 142 feet, 1 inch (43.32 meters) on Friday, good for a third-place finish among 16 women.
OC freshman
Ruth Oguntope of Houston posted a sixth-place finish among 11 women in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.84.
As they were this weekend, the Eagles' track and field teams will again be spread across three meets next weekend – the David Noble Relays in San Angelo, Texas, on Thursday and Friday; the Washington University Distance Carnival in St. Louis on Friday; and the Southwestern Christian Invitational in Yukon on Saturday.
