Eagles receiving votes in South Central Region poll

GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 14, 2022) – Despite a rough weekend, Oklahoma Christian still received votes in the first regular-season edition of the NCAA Division II South Central Region rankings, released Monday by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association,

OC (3-5) was seventh in the preseason NCBWA poll of 10 athletic communications professionals – five each from the Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, which make up the South Central Region. The Eagles won three of four games at St. Mary's (Texas) during the season's opening weekend but dropped four straight this past weekend to Lubbock Christian (Texas).

The Eagles received seven points in the voting for the current poll, putting them one spot out of the top 10, where they spent a good portion of last season.

The top 10 consisted of Colorado Mesa (4-0), West Texas A&M (6-0), Angelo State (Texas) (6-2), Colorado School of Mines (8-0), Lubbock Christian (6-2), Texas-Tyler (4-3), Metro State (Colo.) (3-3), Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-3), St. Edward's (Texas) (5-3) and Texas A&M International (4-3).

OC and St. Mary's topped the "others receiving votes" category and were just five points behind TAMIU. Also receiving votes were Colorado-Colorado Springs, Colorado State-Pueblo and Cameron.

The Eagles next will visit Angelo State for a four-game LSC series that is scheduled to begin on Friday.
