EDMOND, Okla. - Behind a pair of saves from
Christian Castilla and
John Skweres, Oklahoma Christian completed its series sweep of UT Permian Basin Friday, Apr. 10, 14-11 and 10-9.
Evan Ballast (1-3) and
Will Rodman (1-2) each picked up wins on the mound in relief, while the Eagle offense recorded 28 hits across the two games.
Trey Migl (6-for-8) tallied three hits in both of Friday's contests, finishing his weekend hitting .571 (8-for-14) with 10 runs scored, seven RBI and three home run.
Oklahoma Christian trailed by as much as four in three of the four games this weekend, including in the latter two games of the series. This weekend's sweep is OC's first such series sweep at home since 2022 against the same UTPB team.
The Eagles (15-27) will take their final road trip of the 2026 regular season Friday, Apr. 17 when OC visits to the Lone Star State to take on ABCA No. 14 UT Tyler in a four-game series before finishing the season at home against Sul Ross State Apr. 24-26.
Game One: Oklahoma Christian 14, UT Permian Basin 11
Oklahoma Christian matched UT Permian Basin's four-run top of the first with four runs of its own in the home-half of the first. The Eagles' second and final deficit of the game came in the top of the first, 5-4, before plating three more runs in the bottom of the second to take the 7-5 advantage.
The Eagles carried that two-run lead the rest of the game before adding another run for the eventual three-run victory. Leading by three, Castilla came to the mound in the sixth, allowing just one hit while striking out one Falcon without administering one walk.
Game Two: Oklahoma Christian 10, UT Permian Basin 9
For the second time on the day, OC had to overcome a lead after the top of the first inning before UTPB built a 6-1 lead after two and a half innings. Oklahoma Christian fought back to trail by just one run, 9-8, before Rodman came to the bump.
Rodman did not allow a single run, allowing OC's offense to plate single runs in the bottom of the seventh and the eighth, including a go-ahead home run from
Ruben Castro, before Skweres relieved the Coppell, Texas, native for the final inning. Skweres faced just three batters to earn his first save of the season.
