PITTSBURG, Kan. (Feb. 12, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian's middle-distance runners took the spotlight for the Eagles' women's track and field team on Saturday in Pittsburg State's Indoor Gorilla Classic at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
OC had three entries among the 73 women in the mile. Leading the Eagles was senior
Rebeca Morales of Riverside, Calif., who took 31st in 5:12.75. Not far behind were junior
Emma Davison of Mason City, Iowa (34th in 5:15.14) and junior
Caroline Schwab of Andover, Kan. (41st in 5:19.94).
In the 800 meters, junior
Kenya Bailey was 46th of 77 women in 2:24.50, with junior
Payton Duesing of Lantana, Texas, 63rd in 2:28.39.
In the 4x400-meter relay, the OC quartet of
Ruth Oguntope, Davison, Duesing and Morales posted a time of 4:20.88. Sophomore sprinter
Bryah Davis of Cedar Hill, Texas, took 23rd in the 60 meters in 7.82 seconds and sophomore thrower
Taelor Brown of Pawnee, Okla., placed 32nd with a throw of 36 feet, 6¼ inches (11.13 meters).
The Eagles now will prepare for the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships, which are scheduled for Feb. 25-26 in Lubbock, Texas.
