CLEVELAND, Tenn. (May 15, 2021) –
Kelsey Castillo closed her brilliant Oklahoma Christian running career with a personal-best time in the 800 meters and two other Eagles also recorded their career-best times or marks on Saturday in the Lee University Last Chance Meet.
Running at the Lee Multi-Sport Complex, Castillo – a fifth-year senior from Edmond, Okla. – finished third in a 10-woman field in the 800 in 2:13.91. In her last collegiate meet, she doubled in the 1,500 meters and posted a time of 4:43.45, good for 13th in a 22-woman race.
OC junior
Payton Duesing of Lantana, Texas, also ran in the 800 race, finishing in 2:23.39.
OC sprinters
Bryah Davis and
Destiny Johnson each ran in the 200 meters. Davis, a sophomore from Cedar Hill, Texas, was 14th among 25 runners with a time of 25.41 seconds while Johnson, a senior from Arlington, Texas, posted a career-best time of 25.92 seconds. Davis also ran in the 100 meters, placing 10th among 18 runners in 12.10 seconds.
In the hammer, OC freshman
Leah Oguntope of Houston had a career-best throw of 134 feet, 3 inches (40.92 meters) to take sixth among nine contestants. She also competed in the shot put and had a top throw of 36 feet, 5 inches (11.10 meters).
OC jumper
Morgan Ray, a junior from Edmond, finished seventh among 11 women in the long jump at 17 feet, ½ inch (5.19 meters). She didn't record a mark in the triple jump.
The meet was the last of the outdoor season for OC's women's track and field team.
