OC women’s bowling team qualifies for Sectional Qualifier

ARLINGTON, Texas (March 31, 2021) – For the third time in as many years, Oklahoma Christian's women's bowling program is headed to the collegiate postseason.

OC was one of 14 teams assigned Wednesday to the Intercollegiate Team Championship Sectional Qualifier event that will be contested from April 16-18 at USA Bowl in Dallas. The Dallas site is one of four in the U.S. that will host Sectional events.

The Eagles are the No. 36-seeded team in the postseason, the ninth-highest of the 14 teams assigned to Dallas. Teams seeded above OC will be No. 2 Wichita State, No. 8 Martin Methodist (Tenn.), No. 14 Midland (Iowa), No. 15 Newman (Kan.), No. 17 Lindenwood (Mo.), No. 18 Louisiana Tech, No. 30 Stephen F. Austin and No. 31 Campbellsville (Ky.).

Also in the field will be No. 46 Alabama-Birmingham, No. 48 West Texas A&M, No. 53 Iowa Central Community College, No. 59 Morningside (Iowa) and No. 62 Columbia (Mo.).

The first day of the event will be the Intercollegiate Singles Championship Sectional Qualifier – to determine individual qualifiers for the national event – with the final two days serving as the ITC Sectional Qualifier.

The top four men's and top four women's teams from each sectional will advance to the ITC, which will be held May 5-8 at the Spectrum Entertainment Complex in Wyoming, Mich.

"We are excited to be heading back to Dallas for sectionals," OC coach James Hayes said "I feel our team can compete strongly in the field. After having sectionals cancelled last year, I know the athletes are excited to be back in the postseason."

OC has qualified for club bowling's postseason in every year of its three-season existence.
