RICHARDSON, Texas (Sept. 15, 2020) – Oklahoma Christian finished fourth in the Lone Star Conference's men's cross country preseason poll, released Tuesday.

League coaches, sports information directors and media members vote in the poll. They gave defending champion West Texas A&M 29 of 33 first-place votes and 454 points, while Lubbock Christian (Texas) finished second with four first-place votes and 391 points. Cameron (374 points) was third ahead of OC (359 points).

Those four teams finished 1-2-3-4 (in that order) in last year's LSC Championship meet in Silver City, N.M.

"We are looking forward to competing this fall!" OC coach Wade Miller said. "There are some really talented teams in our conference and we are excited about the challenge of working to better our fourth-place finish from 2019."

OC has most of its squad returning from last season, including senior Colton Meyers, juniors Caleb Bozarth and Jelte van Atten and sophomores Owen Pearce, Colten Brown and Kolten Johnson. Meyers earned All-LSC honors in 2019.

The Eagles are scheduled to open their season Sept. 25 in a meet hosted by Dallas Baptist (Texas). The LSC Championship race will be hosted by Angelo State (Texas) on Oct. 31 in San Angelo, Texas.

In the LSC poll, Western New Mexico was fifth with 282 points, followed by Texas A&M-Commerce with 275 points, St. Edward's (Texas) with 274 points, Dallas Baptist with 273 points, Texas A&M International with 205 points, Texas-Tyler with 182 points, Texas-Permian Basin with 155 points, Angelo State with 111 points, Arkansas-Fort Smith with 76 points and Texas A&M-Kingsville with 54 points.

LSC member Eastern New Mexico will not compete in cross country this season and another team that competed in the league in 2019, Tarleton State (Texas), has left the LSC and moved into NCAA Division I.
