EDITOR'S NOTE: One of a series of stories written by Oklahoma Christian student-athletes who serve on the university's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, whose seasons suddenly ended due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Track and field senior Destiny Grace is the OC SAAC president.

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 21, 2020) – Finals week is officially upon us and it feels kind of weird to say that, considering the fact that most of us will be taking our finals from home given the unforeseen circumstances that have happened due to the coronavirus.

Time that we thought we would have to hang out with our teammates, finish our seasons and thank our coaches and staff were basically taken away from us in a matter of moments that we didn't see coming. I'm not going to sugarcoat it and say it's been easy and fun, because it hasn't been. I know I've talked to friends and other teammates and sadness, anger and confusion seem to be the most prevalent feelings in all of this.

However, I don't really want to focus on those things right now. Right now I just want to say, "Congratulations class of 2020." Congratulations for all the time, hard work and dedication you put into your sport. Congrats for putting up with all the late nights, early mornings and looong bus rides on top of having to juggle jobs, classwork and other activities. We might not have gotten the ending we wanted, but I think it's safe to say we've handled and gotten through it the best we could.

We obviously couldn't have done it without our incredible coaches and awesome athletic staff. I'm sure you know but in case you don't, we have the best of the best looking out for us. Whether your athletic career has ended or you are returning back to OC to finish what you started, I have no doubt you will work hard and because of that, nothing but success is in each of our futures.

Once again I want to say congratulations and wherever you're headed, know that your community at OC is rooting for you!!!
