Harvey on All-South Central Region list for 200 meters

OC senior Lawanda Harvey made the All-South Central Region list in the indoor 200 meters.
NEW ORLEANS (March 2, 2020) – Oklahoma Christian sprinter Lawanda Harvey made the All-South Central Region list for the indoor season in the 200 meters, according to the list released Monday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

To earn All-Region status, an athlete must post one of the top five times or marks in an event in her respective region. Harvey had the fourth-fastest 200-meter time in the region this season, smashing the OC school record with a time of 24.58 seconds in the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships in Lubbock, Texas, on Feb. 21.

The USTFCCCA said 802 women earned at least one All-Region honor across the eight regions in NCAA Division II. It's the first time Harvey, a senior from Frisco, Texas, has earned an All-Region honor, but as a freshman, she did qualify for the Division II Outdoor Championships in the 200 meters.

Harvey will learn Tuesday if her time will qualify her for this year's Division II Indoor Championships, to be contested later this month in Birmingham, Ala.
