OC signee Brown named as Jim Thorpe award recipient for track

OC signee Colten Brown of Boise City received the Jim Thorpe High School Player of the Year award for track.
OKLAHOMA CITY (June 18, 2019) – Colten Brown of Boise City, who has signed to run for Oklahoma Christian's cross country and track and field programs, was named as the Jim Thorpe High School Player of the Year in boys track.

Brown, who didn't lose an individual outdoor track and field race all season, received the honor at the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame's 35th annual All Sports and Scholar Athletes Awards luncheon at the Petroleum Club. Winners from 17 prep sports were recognized during the event.

During a memorable senior season, Brown repeated as the Class A cross country individual champion, then won Class A track titles in the 800 meters (2:00.70), 1,600 meters (4:32.75) and 3,200 meters (9:31.88), completing that trifecta for the second straight year. He also anchored Boise City's 4x800-meter relay team that finished second in the state meet.

He also won the 1,600-meter individual title as a sophomore and the 4x800 relay crown as a sophomore and junior.

Brown signed with OC last November and will join the Eagles for the 2019 cross country season.
