LUBBOCK, Texas (Feb. 2, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian's Kelsey Castillo set a personal-best time in the 800 meters and posted a top-10 finish in the mile as the Lady Eagles wrapped up competition Saturday in the Texas Tech Open at the Sports Performance Center.

Castillo, a junior from Edmond, finished eighth among 42 runners in the mile with a time of 5:24.19, with freshman Payton Duesing placing 32nd in 5:56.98.

Castillo bounced back not long later to run in the 800 meters and her time of 2:24.31 was the fastest of her career and good enough to place 28th among 62 women. Another OC junior, Kelsey Simmons, was 34th in 2:27.69.

Junior sprinter Lawanda Harvey of Frisco, Texas, placed 20th among 90 runners in the 200 meters with a time of 25.34 seconds.

OC had a pair of competitors in two field events. In the shot put, junior Destiny Grace was 18th in a 29-woman field with a throw of 38 feet, 3½ inches (11.67 meters), while senior Alexus Woolly was 23rd at 35 feet, 1¾ inches (10.71 meters).

In the triple jump, sophomore Temar Smith (33 feet, ½ inch; 10.07 meters) and freshman Morgan Ray (32 feet, 11 ¼ inches; 10.04 meters) placed 24th and 25th, respectively, among 30 competitors.

OC's team will be split next weekend between the Indoor Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan., and the Central Oklahoma Alumni Classic in Norman.
