RICHARDSON, Texas (Oct. 28, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian cross country runner Jake Weith has been named named to the Lone Star Conference's Academic All-Conference list, released Monday.

The conference award recognized student-athletes for their performance both in competition and in the classroom. To be eligible for the five-member All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average. The All-Academic teams are voted on by the league's sports information directors.

Weith, a senior from Arlington, Texas, spent most of this season as the Eagles' No. 7 runner before suffering a season-ending injury just before last week's LSC Championship meet, posting a top 8,000-meter time of 26:49.3 in the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., on Oct. 5. He also carries a 3.95 GPA as an Accounting/Finance major and is on track to graduate in December.

The LSC award is the latest in a long list of academic awards earned by Weith. He was named to the Heartland Conference's President's Honor Roll seven times and has received the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award twice (and should again in 2020). In track and field, he twice made the Great American Conference's Academic All-Conference list.

Joining Weith on the LSC's Academic All-Conference list were Steffen Riestenpatt of Cameron, Zach Tucker of Texas-Tyler, Michael Anzures of Western New Mexico and Briggs Wittlake of West Texas A&M. Tucker was named as the LSC's academic runner of the year.
