Box Score 2 GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Feb. 10, 2017) – Led by sophomore third baseman
Bridget White, Oklahoma Christian split a pair of games against Lone Star Conference foes on Friday in the North Texas Softball Bash.
White hit a three-run home run and had a career-high five RBIs as OC opened the event with a 6-4 win over Texas Woman's, but the Lady Eagles managed only four hits while falling 5-0 to Tarleton State (Texas) at the Jennifer McFalls Softball Complex.
Against Texas Woman's – picked in the preseason to finish third in the traditionally strong LSC – White hit a two-run single in the first inning off Texas Woman's pitcher Tori Bice (1-2) after Bice had walked OC's
Sheridan Bond and
Madison Nordyke to start the game.
Texas Woman's (4-3) pulled within 2-1 in the third when Tylia Sylestine's double to left field scored Katy Stephens, but White answered with her homer to build OC's lead to 5-1 and the Lady Eagles made it 6-1 in the fourth on
Haley Squier's sacrifice fly
The Pioneers used a three-run fifth to pull within 6-4 and put two runners on base with one out in the seventh inning, but OC starter
Madison Hagood (2-1) retired Chelsie McClure on a ground ball and Alexis Elizondo on a foul out to end the game.
The offense didn't carry over into OC's game against Tarleton State (4-2) as the Lady Eagles advanced only one runner as far as third base against the TexAnns' starter, Haley Freyman (2-2).
Nordyke (2-1) had two of OC's four hits and also started in the circle, allowing six hits and four runs in 4 1/3 innings.
OC will face two more Lone Star teams, Texas-Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico, on Saturday.
