Eagles begin second-semester play at Southeastern

Abel Rodriguez and the Eagles will play Saturday at Southeastern.
DURANT, Okla. (Dec. 29, 2017) – An old in-state rival – albeit one Oklahoma Christian hasn't played in awhile – will help the Eagles kick off the second half of their basketball season.

The Eagles will head to Bryan County on Saturday to face Southeastern Oklahoma State in their final nonconference game of the 2017-18 campaign. Tipoff at Bloomer Sullivan Arena will be at 3 p.m.

The game – a late addition to the OC schedule – will give the Eagles the luxury of knocking off some rust after a 12-day layoff and before they resume Heartland Conference play against No. 4-ranked Arkansas-Fort Smith at home on Jan. 4.

Southeastern – a member of the Great American Conference – and OC have played 40 times through the years, but not since the 2008-09 season, when OC beat the Savage Storm 74-49.

OC (3-8) and Southeastern (4-5) have two common opponents this season. OC lost to Central Oklahoma 85-74 on Nov. 14 and beat GAC-leading Southern Nazarene 76-69 on Nov. 25 (which is SNU's only loss this season), while Southeastern lost to UCO 78-51 on Nov. 10 and SNU 72-67 on Dec. 6, in the Savage Storm's most recent game.

The Eagles have been off since falling 79-62 at Maryville (Mo.) on Dec. 19.
