Box Score SAN ANTONIO (March 19, 2016) – No. 9-ranked St. Mary's (Texas) wrapped up a three-game sweep of visiting Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon, beating the Lady Eagles 2-0 behind a five-hit shutout by pitcher Kristi Rangel.

St. Mary's (26-5, 12-0 Heartland Conference) built on its league lead, while OC (14-16, 9-3) suffered its first sweep after sweeping its first three Heartland series. OC, which entered the weekend tied atop the standings, dropped into third place behind Lubbock Christian (Texas), which is 7-2.

OC pitcher Madison Nordyke (1-6) had a quality outing, going the distance and striking out five batters while allowing only four hits. Two of those hits were by Hannah Michel of St. Mary's and both went for extra bases.

In the third, Michel tripled to right field with two outs and scored on a single to right field by Raynelle Nash to put the Rattlers up 1-0. Michel's double down the left-field line in the fifth scored Hannah Fields, who had reached on an error.

OC's best scoring chance against Rangel (4-1) came in the fifth, when singles by Nordyke and Kayla Eichler gave the Lady Eagles runners at first and third base, but Rangel retired Jordan Chism on a ground ball to end the threat.

The Lady Eagles will resume play Thursday, when they begin another crucial Heartland Conference series on the road at Lubbock Christian. OC and the Chaparrals will play twice on Thursday and once on Friday.
