Box Score EDMOND, Okla. (Feb. 12, 2016) – Central Oklahoma jumped on Oklahoma Christian for four first-inning runs and OC never caught up, falling 7-2 to the Bronchos on Friday afternoon at UCO.
UCO (7-1) beat OC (2-5) for the second time this season, having also downed the Lady Eagles last Friday in the Southeastern Regional Invitational in Durant. The cross-Edmond rivals will meet a third time on Feb. 20 in the Rattler Invitational in San Antonio.
Things started well for OC, as
Sheridan Bond walked to start the first inning and later scored on a double to right-center field by
Niki Davidson, who went 2-for-3 and had both of the Lady Eagles' RBIs.
But the first six UCO batters in the bottom of the inning reached base against OC starter
Madison Hagood (1-2), with Tori Collet delivering the big blow, a two-run double to left-center field that put the Bronchos up 4-1.
UCO extended its lead to 5-1 in the fourth on a run-scoring double by Morgan Heard that followed an OC error. The Lady Eagles answered in the fifth, as Davidson's single up the middle scored
Avery Walker to make it 5-2, but OC left the bases loaded.
Rachel Harper essentially sealed the win for UCO with a two-run, inside-the-park home run in the fifth.
Mo Selman (2-1) threw five innings, allowing three hits, and overcame five wild pitches to earn the pitching win for UCO.
OC's home opener will be Tuesday, when the Lady Eagles will face NAIA foe USAO in a doubleheader that will start at 1 p.m.
