Box Score AUSTIN, Texas (March 8, 2015) – No. 18-ranked St. Edward's (Texas) pounded out 11 hits, five for extra bases, against seven Oklahoma Christian pitchers and rolled to a 12-2, seven-inning win over the Eagles on Sunday to complete a sweep of the teams' three-game Heartland Conference baseball series.
St. Edward's (14-6, 3-0 Heartland) jumped on OC starter
Hunter Raley for six runs in the first inning, with Jonathon Davis smacking a grand slam for the Hilltoppers. St. Edward's added single runs in the second, third and fourth innings to build a 9-0 lead over OC (8-8, 0-3).
The Eagles scored their only runs in the sixth, one on a RBI single by
Kyle Lacy, another when
Zac Cobble was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
St. Edward's scored three more times in the seventh, with Kevin Mayo's bases-loaded double ending the game due to the 10-run rule.
Cameron Stanton (3-0) started and pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Hilltoppers. Raley (2-1) took the pitching loss for OC.
OC will return to action Tuesday afternoon, when the Eagles visit East Central for a nonconference game.
