Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY (March 13, 2015) – It was already raining when
Dillon Endecott started pitching on Friday afternoon, but the poor playing conditions didn't seem to bother the big right-hander much.
The senior from McLoud recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts and threw his first complete game in an OC uniform to lead the Eagles past Rogers State 3-0 in seven innings on a chilly, drizzly day at Dobson Field.
The rain began falling hard enough toward the game's end that a scheduled second game was postponed until Saturday and made part of a doubleheader that is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
About 11:45 a.m., coaches agreed to move up Friday's start time from 2 p.m. to 1 p.m., but Endecott (2-1) didn't appear fazed by the late change, overpowering the Hillcats throughout and recording at least one strikeout in each inning.
OC (9-8, 1-3 Heartland Conference) wasn't able to scratch out much offense against Rogers State left-hander Mason Marquette (2-3), but the Eagles came up with a pair of timely hits.
Ben McKenzie's single to center scored
Zac Cobble in the first inning and a two-out double to left-center field by
Ryan Ward scored
Brady Baugh and
Austin Orth in the fourth.
Rogers State (7-10, 0-4) didn't advance a runner past second base until the fifth inning, when they loaded the bases after a double by Cesar Rodriguez, a single by Austin Culwell and a walk by Alex Cochran. But with two outs, Endecott fanned Caleb Kohlmeyer for the third time to end the inning.
The Hillcats started the sixth with a pair of singles but Endecott retired the next three batters.
Marquette, like Endecott, also pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and striking out two batters.
