The Oklahoma Christian University softball team split a doubleheader with Northwestern Oklahoma State here March 7.
The victory in game two was the Lady Eagles' first Sooner Athletic Conference win of the season and improved their overall record to 5-8.
In game one, the Lady Eagles took an early 1-0 lead on freshman Traci Washam's first home run of her collegiate career.
OC held the lead behind pitcher Linzi Farris until the fifth inning when NWOSU scored its first run of the game.
The two teams battled into extra innings, exchanging runs in the eighth before NWOSU scored two in the top of the ninth. The Lady Eagles were unable to answer and the Lady Rangers won 4-2.
Farris took the loss despite pitching nine innings and earning just two runs.
Game two saw OC again score first, this time on a Rachel Seeber RBI-single in the third. The Lady Eagles added an insurance run in the fourth on Morgan Clemons' RBI-single before exploding for five runs in the fifth.
The fifth inning was highlighted by a three-run home run by Sarah Waters over the left-field fence.
Seeber came on in relief to pick up her second victory of the season. She pitched 2.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits.
Clemmons finished the game 2-for-2 with an RBI while Waters was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
The team now prepares for two Spring Break tournaments in the state of Georgia. The Leadoff Classic will take place March 10-11 in La Grange while the Spring Break Games run March 14-16 in Savannah.
