FARMERS BRANCH, Texas (March 14, 2008) – The Oklahoma Christian softball team beat Kansas Wesleyan 9-5, and fell to Belhaven (Miss.) 4-3, Friday at the OC Farmers Branch Invitational in suburban Dallas.

The Lady Eagles' big blow against KWU (7-6) was a five-run fourth.

Rachel Smith and Allissa Hejl each had two-RBI hits in the inning. Hejl's two-out single plated Smith and Amy Urbanovsky to put OC up 8-2.

The Lady Eagles finished with 15 hits as five different players had multi-hit games.

Hejl was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Christin Dobbs (2-for-5), Tracy Washam (2-for-3), Urbanovsky (2-for-2) and Smith (2-for-4) all had two knocks.

Sophia Johnson (2-3) earned the win with a five-inning, one-run effort. The sophomore right-hander struck out three and surrendered three hits.

Game two had a promising beginning with OC putting three runs on the board in the top of the first.

Sandra Darmstadt brought Dobbs home for the first run. Then Smith lined a two-bagger over the left fielder's head to score Darmstadt and Deidre Chatigny to give the Lady Eagles a three-run lead before they took the field.

But the runs would be OC's last.

Belhaven (15-11) scored once in the home half, then twice more in the second, before both teams went scoreless over the next three innings.

A sixth-inning JorD'ann Orr sacrifice fly ended up being the difference as the Lady Blazers held the Lady Eagles scoreless in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Linzi Farris (2-5) was saddled with the loss despite allowing only five hits and striking out four.
