Seeber leads OC to sweep

Rachel Seeber's last-inning grand slam home run powered Oklahoma Christian to a 7-6 victory and led the Lady Eagles to a doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma Baptist University here March 28.

In the day's opener, freshman Linzi Farris and Seeber combined to pitch a 2-0 shutout of the visiting Bison. The two victories upped OC's record to 11-13 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Fariss (5-6) tossed a five-hitter and Seeber came on to close the final two innings and earn her first save of the season. Run-scoring singles by Sandra Darmstadt and Tracy Washam provided the winning margin.

In the nightcap, Seeber relieved OC starter Erin Bryan in the fifth inning when OBU jumped to a 6-2 lead with a four-run outburst.

Trailing in the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Eagles loaded the bases on singles by Stephanie Branham and Alissa Harper and a walk to Morgan Clemmons. Seeber's shot over the left field fence tied it at 6-6.

Angie Plowman followed with a double to right center and then stole third. Darmstadt laced a base hit to deep short to drive in Plowman with the game-winning run.

Seeber, now 4-0 on the mound, was 3-for-7 at the plate with four runs batted in for the day. Plowman was 3-for-6 with a home run and a run batted in. Harper was 3-for-7 with a home run and an RBI.
