Back to back shutouts enabled Oklahoma Christian to sweep Oklahoma Baptist University 5-0 and 4-0 in Sooner Conference action March 25.
Lady Eagles senior Stephanie Gault tossed a five hitter in the first game and junior Courtney Quine helped her own cause with a three-run homer run in the nightcap.
The Lady Eagles, building back after a disappointing start for the season, improved their record to 6-16. In league play they are 3-7.
Gault earned her third win of the season behind an 11-hit attack. Senior Lacy Botchlet tripled in Rachel Seeber for the go-ahead run in the first inning. OC scored three runs in the third, on six hits with Ginny Herndon, Stephanie Swarb and Carla Renteria providing the run scoring singles. Sophomore Rachel Seeber added an insurance run with a solo homer in the fifth.
Despite battling a blister on her pitching hand, Quine hurled her first shutout of the season, while striking out nine for her third win of the year. The Lady Eagles took the lead in the fourth inning on a run scoring single by Herndon. In the bottom of the fifth Seeber opened with a double and Angie Plowman was safe on an infield error. Botchlet sacrificed the runners up and Quine followed with her first homerun of the season.
Oklahoma Christian travels to Alva to meet Northwestern Oklahoma State University in two games on Saturday (March 27).
