Lady Eagles Win, Lose in SAC Tournament

Oklahoma Christian defeated 27th ranked St. Gregory's University in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament but fell from the double elimination bracket with losses to Oklahoma City University and Northwestern Oklahoma State University, May 7 & 8.

The Lady Eagles closed their season with an overall 21-28 record and an 11-13 record in conference play. OC rebounded from an 0-12 start to earn a berth in the conference playoff.

Courtney Quine and Stephanie Gault combined to defeat St. Gregory's in a 2-1 thriller. Quine hurled a six-hitter to earn the victory but Gault came in with one out tin the seventh inning to get the final outs.

Standout defensive plays by outfielder Lacey Botchlet and catcher Angie Plowman highlighted the Lady Eagles play. Senior Ginny Herndon tripled and scored for OC's first run and junior Shawna Lenz scored the winning run off freshman Stephanie Swarb's infield grounder.

Paired against No. 7 ranked Oklahoma City in the first round, the Lady Eagles fell to the Stars by a 10-0 count. OC met Northwestern Oklahoma in the third game with the Lady Rangers taking a 5-1 decision.
