Eagles win in Texas

Box score

Point guard Brady Page led Oklahoma Christian University to a 74-66 victory over Texas Wesleyan with a 30-point effort in Fort Worth, Texas, Tuesday night.

"It was a good win on the road," Coach Dan Hays said. "We knew it would be a tough game, but we handled it pretty well."

Joining Page in double figures against the 15th-ranked Rams was junior Charles Baldwin with 11 points.

Texas Wesleyan jumped to an early lead on the outside shooting of guard Khayri McKinney and inside scoring by center Scott Reasoner. Eight minutes into the game, TWU led 15-6, but a pair of treys by Baldwin, another by Page and a putback by senior Kendrick Jackson gave OC a 17-15 lead at 9:33.

Plagued by foul calls, the Eagles pulled even 32-32 two minutes before halftime, but the Rams scored a basket inside and Ben Hunt went 3-for-3 at the foul line in the final seconds before intermission for a 37-32 Texas Wesleyan margin.

For the first 10 minutes of the second half, the teams traded baskets, but field goals by Jackson, Keith Harris and Dillon Ripley gave OC a 56-50 lead with 11:06 remaining.

Page continued his hot shooting, but an eight-point run by TWU closed the Eagles' lead to 64-62 with 5:33 to play. Micah Miles stuffed a basket at 5:11, Drew Cross scored on a breakaway and Page scored in the lane for a 70-64 OC lead at the two-minute mark.

Ripley canned a pair of free throws and Page and Miles each connected at the line for the final 74-66 margin.

The Eagles, now 2-0, play Oklahoma Sate University in an exhibition contest in Stillwater on Friday at 8 p.m. They return home to host Park University (Mo.) Saturday at 8 p.m.

"OSU is an exhibition, and we plan to play hard," Hays said, "but essentially we're getting ready for Park because that's the one that really counts for us."
