Eagles Win at John Brown, 69-67

Clutch free throw shooting enabled Oklahoma Christian to overcome John Brown University (Ark.) 69-67 in a hard fought conference game in Siloam Springs, Ark. Feb. 10.

Point guard Brady Page was a perfect four for four from the line in the final minutes to overcome a late three-pointer by JBU. THe victory keeps the Eagles in first place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 10-3 record and improves the season mark to 22-3.

After trailing at halftime by two, OC chipped away at JBU and took a 52-50 lead on Keith Harris' three free throws at 9:49. The Eagles led by five 60-55 at 4:23 and 65-60 with 1:53 remaining but a JBU three-pointer tied it up 67-67 with :37 seconds to play. Page was fouled in the backcourt and hit the winning free throws with 10 seconds to play. A last second shot by JBU was off the mark.

The Eagles, leading the league in the category, were 20 of 22 from the foul line while both teams shot 41 percent from the field.

Jarred Merrill led OC scorers with 16 points, followed by Page with 15, Charles Baldwin with 12 and Harris with 11 points.
