Eagles Fall to USAO

Oklahoma Christian University drew a cold shooting hand in the second half and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma made the most of it to take a 73-62 win from the Eagles here Feb. 26.

After leading by a 35-33 margin at halftime the Eagles were only eight of 27 from the field in the final period. USAO's Wayne Gibson and Eliot Magee were the offensive leaders as the Drovers moved ahead 55-50 at the 10:21 mark.

Gibson put USAO up 65-56 on a three-pointer at 5:39 while the Eagles suffered through a seven and a half minute drought from the field, but were five of seven from the free throw line. Brady Page scored on a short jumper at 1:50 but the Eagles had to settle for a free throw by Keith Harris and a pair of free throws by Jarred Merrill in the final seconds. With the Eagles purposely fouling, USAO used six for six shooting at the foul line to open up the final 73-62 margin.

The loss leaves OC with a 6-10 record in the conference race and 16-11 overall. USAO, 8-14 overall, is now 5-11 in league play. Merrill led the Eagles with 24 points and Page scored 11 points while leading OC with 11 rebounds. Gibson led USAO with 17 points.

Oklahoma Christian will play St. Gregory's University in Shawnee Feb. 28.
