Eagles advance to 14-0 in win against John Brown

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (Jan. 4, 2009) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team advanced their season to 14-0 after taking down No. 23 John Brown University with an 81-75 win on Monday Night.

Chad Endres hit a three-pointer right off the bat to give the Eagles a lead they never gave up and got the momentum rolling in the right direction for the OC men. However, the John Brown men didn't make things easy for the Eagles.

Throughout the first half, the teams exchanged blows with the Golden Eagles tying OC two times. The Eagles never led by more than eight points during the period and led 36-30 before heading into halftime.

John Brown worked their way to within one point of the Eagles after only three minutes of the second half had started. The OC men responded in similar fashion taking their lead to 10 with 12:43 left in the game.

The Eagles held off the John Brown men throughout the rest of the half despite the Golden Eagles coming within three points several times. The Eagles persevered to the end routing John Brown 81-75 and maintained their undefeated record now at 14-0 and 6-0 for conference play.

Five Eagles saw double-digit games with Jason Taylor leading the squad at 16 points. Taylor also grabbed nine rebounds and made three assists. Devan White tallied 15 points for the evening and Jeff Crocker continued supporting the Eagles from the perimeter hitting three of four from three-point range. Crocker scored 14 points total and made eight assits.

Andre Vaughn put up 13 points for the Eagles and grabbed five rebounds with fellow swingman Chad Endres scoring 11 points and bringing down five rebounds as well.

David Jackson added to the mix scoring eight points for the Eagles and making five assists and two steals.

The Eagles will play next at home in the Eagles' Nest where they will host Southern Nazarene University in a double header with the women's team. The women's game begins at 6 p.m. followed by the men's at 8 p.m.
